They had suddenly been there, seemingly out of nowhere. The guards that are stationed around the perimeter of the Fuel Flower Forest (the name the explorers have given to the peculiar giant plants for obvious reasons) gave alarm as soon as the creatures appeared. An airship was sent out from the colony to investigate the newcomers - wary, but welcoming, and in no way aggressive.
In the fifteen years the colonists have been here now, the sense of awe and wonder and benevolent curiosity concerning the wonders of their new home has not dwindled. If all, it has been strengthened by the mysteries they have encountered. Their resolve to do things better than their ancestors on Earth did is stronger than ever. And so they approach the huge creatures that dance over the forest with the sincere hope of learning something new and maybe find new friends.
